In July 2022, Terry Interior Designs attended Decorex Joburg — held at the Sandton Convention Centre, Sandton, Johannesburg, South Africa, and billed as Africa's leading decor and design show. The visit was a deliberate procurement exercise: a single event where suppliers across every major interior category could be assessed, compared, and engaged directly, without the friction of individual sourcing trips.

A Full Spectrum of Categories

Decorex is structured across multiple dedicated halls — a layout that mirrors the way a real interior project is built: from architectural surface decisions through to the final layer of soft furnishing. The show's scope meant we could move through every relevant category in sequence:

• Fabrics & soft furnishings — upholstery textiles, drapery, cushioning, and decorative weaves from producers across southern Africa and international exhibitors
• Furniture — residential and contract-grade pieces, both contemporary and classic, including custom and locally manufactured ranges
• Outdoor living — weather-resistant furniture, shade structures, and outdoor surface materials for the covered terraces and gardens that feature in many of our residential briefs
• Kitchens — cabinetry systems, worktop materials, hardware, and integrated appliance solutions
• Bathrooms — sanitaryware, brassware, vanity units, and tiling solutions from the Kitchen & Bathroom Hall

Why Shows Like This Matter

Procurement is one of the most consequential — and least visible — parts of what we do. Getting the right material, from the right supplier, at the right price and lead time, is the difference between a project that delivers on its design intent and one that compromises in the finishing stages. Decorex concentrates a year's worth of potential supplier conversations into a few days, and allows us to assess quality, discuss minimums, and establish relationships face to face — the only way those relationships really form.
